Motion of a 2D electron along the edge of a sample in a high magnetic field
The motion of a 2D electron near the edge of a sample in a high magnetic field is analyzed. Scattering by impurities near the edge is taken into account. It is assumed that the correlation length of the potential set up by the impurities is large. The electron drift velocity is shown to be inversely proportional to the number of ID channels which form near the edge.
